Itinerary – South Lakes Tour

First Stop: Kirkstone Pass
The Lake District’s highest pass that is open to motor traffic, with an altitude of 1,489 feet, enjoying stunning views including Lake Windermere.

Second Stop: Stock Ghyll Force – Ambleside
A 70 foot waterfall. The perfect place to stretch your legs and take some photos.

Third Stop: Cathedral Quarry – Elterwater
This man-made quarry is more spectacular than pictures alone can convey, with its wonderful echo and tunnels of over 100m long.

Forth Stop: Tarn Hows – Coniston
A man-made beauty spot with stunning scenery looking over Coniston hills and Langdale Pikes. You will often find rare Belted Galloway cattle and study Herdwick sheep grazing in the tarn.

Itinerary – North Lakes Tour

First Stop: Castlerigg Stone Circle
One of the most visually impressive prehistoric monuments in Britain, built around 5,000 years ago with panoramic views over the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat.

Second Stop: Friars Crag – Keswick
A stunning view looking out over Derwentwater towards Cat Bells and the impressive jaws of Borrowdale is an unmissable beauty spot.

Third Stop: Honister Pass – Borrowdale/Buttermere
One of Cumbria’s highest passes, connecting Borrowdale with Buttermere. The pass forms part of a beautiful circular scenic drive from Keswick.

Forth Stop: Aira Force Waterfall – Ullswater
An eighteenth-century pleasure ground with a dramatic 65-foot waterfall, woodland trails, champion trees and red squirrels.

The car:

A Land Rover Discovery Sport which can comfortably accommodate groups of up to four guests. The car is well known for its off-road capability and will make driving up and down steep hills look easy whatever the weather.

The Driver:

Ian Doig is an official South Lakeland Private Hire Licence Holder. Ian is local to the area and can provide personal stories about the Lake District and its history. Ian also has a keen interest in driving and a particular passion for off-road adventures.

Meeting Point:

We can pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation or from an alternative pick up point that fits in with your day. We will contact you before the tour date to agree the most suitable pick up and drop off point.
